Reading is Fun and Fundamental!
Reading is the foundation to a successful life. Research supports the notion that the size of a child's home library drastically increases their academic success, vocabulary development, attention, and job attainment. Even if we love our eReader tablets, we love the feel of a book in our hands even more. Our school participates in a home-to-school reading program in partnership with Scholastic Books. Four times each year, volunteers come into our classrooms and read to our students. If you love to read to kiddos, this volunteer assignment is for you! Our Real Read dates are 11/26, 12/20, 2/14, and 3/17.
Millcreek is very fortunate to have a book vending machine in our school. Our intention is to help our students develop a love of reading and to help build their first libraries. We are looking for donations of new and like-new age and content appropriate books to keep our book vending-machine well stocked.
