This only applies to teachers using PEAR ASSESSMENT

Second semester courses populate in Canvas on Monday, November 17th. Teachers will need to set up and publish these courses by January 6, so students can access them. Your Digital Learning Coach can help with:

  • Editing course details

  • Cross-listing courses

  • Setting up Grade Sync

  • Importing content from another Canvas course

  • Syncing with new Pear Assessment classes: Once new Canvas courses are published, teachers will need to create new course shells in Pear Assessment and sync to their new Canvas courses.

The district Canvas team will be supporting teachers that need assistance. Here is the schedule for the drop-in dates the district team will be visiting schools. If there is no date by your school, and you have teachers who need assistance, please reach out to your DRC or STC to get that date scheduled.

This was shared by Erica Settelen, Academic Program Consultant, but I thought it would be a great resource for ALL CTE teachers, so wanted to pass it along!!!

There are many ways to take notes. It’s helpful to try out different methods and determine which work best for you in different situations. Whether you are learning online or in person, the physical act of writing can help you remember better than just listening or reading. Research shows that taking notes by hand is more effective than typing on a laptop. Below is a link to the Cornell Notetaking System site and a Canvas module that will teach you about different note-taking systems and styles and help you determine what will work best for your situation.

🎬 CTE Pathways Video Skit Contest — Scholarship Opportunity! 🎓

Are you a creative storyteller with a knack for video production? Do you want to win a scholarship while showcasing the power of Career and Technical Education (CTE)

We’re awarding two scholarships — one for a high school student(s) and one for a college student(s) — to the creators of the most unique and engaging commercial video skit

🎥 Contest Theme:

Have you seen Cobra Kai? There is a scene at the end of the show where students are receiving guidance on future possibilities. It could be interpreted from this guidance that students that have struggled in high school should only consider the trade schools, like a form of punishment for not performing well in high school. The scene could further be interpreted that some jobs and paths are lesser than others and a route towards failure. In response to this, KACTE would like to see what could have happened after this scene.

Create a short commercial-style video skit script featuring a school counselor who faces a series of real-life challenges — from car troubles to housing issues to financial dilemmas. The twist? Each problem is solved by hiring skilled professionals who followed CTE pathways — and they’re earning top dollar for their expertise!

Your skit should highlight:

  • The value of CTE careers and pride in the chosen career

  • The importance of skilled trades and technical education

  • How CTE professionals solve everyday problems — and get paid well doing it!

🏆 Prizes:

  • 1 High School Student Winner: $1000 Scholarship

  • 1 College Student Winner: $1000 Scholarship

📅 Deadline:

Submit your video script by February 27th, 2026

📜 Rules:

  • Open to current high school and college students

  • Video length: 1–3 minutes

  • Must be original content

  • Must clearly demonstrate the impact of CTE careers

  • Must be in a student or group of students in a CTE Career Pathway or Major

📩 How to Enter:

Send your script submission to Kiley.Whitaker@jefferson.kyschools.us
Include your name, school, grade/year, CTE pathway/major and contact information.

Get creative. Get inspired. Have fun and show the world how CTE changes lives — and win a scholarship while you're at it!
